Title:

A good agro-hydro-pastoral situation

Members:

This bulletin from CILSS Agrhymet Regional Centre presents the agro-hydro-pastoral situation in the Sahel from 15-23 August. The rains have been unequally distributed across the region with levels in some areas recording surpluses and in other areas recording rain deficits, particularly in the western Sahel (The Gambia, Mauritania and Senegal). The agricultural situation for rain-fed crops is satisfactory overall, but is more worrisome for some cereals like corn. Significant rains in July and early August have boosted the pastoral situation in the Sahel, since the rains contributed to the development of vegetation and pasture for livestock.
